ICT as a Communicative Tool
Telegram as a Communicative Tool:
In the context of teaching and learning, communication plays a vital role. During my training as a student teacher, I explored several platforms that supported peer interaction and academic collaboration. Among them, Telegram stood out as a reliable and effective communicative tool that enhanced my learning experience significantly.
Telegram offers features that make communication smooth and organized. One of the most useful features is the creation of study groups, where all members can share updates, clarify doubts, and hold academic discussions. Unlike some other apps, Telegram supports large groups without reducing the quality of interaction. This was particularly helpful during collaborative tasks, where our entire group could stay updated in real-time.
I also found Telegram’s file-sharing feature extremely beneficial. It allows users to send documents, videos, presentations, and PDFs without any size limitations. During lesson planning and assignments, we frequently exchanged PowerPoint slides, sample lesson plans, and teaching materials with ease. The absence of compression helped maintain the quality of files, which is important in education.
Another interesting feature I appreciated was the use of channels by some of our tutors to share notes and instructions. Since only the admin can post in a channel, it reduced distractions and made it easy to find relevant information without unnecessary clutter.
Additionally, Telegram’s voice chat and voice message tools added a personal touch to our communication. We used voice chats to host quick group discussions before presentations, and voice messages were convenient for sharing explanations or giving feedback without needing to type long messages.
Telegram also supports polls, which we used to vote on group decisions, such as selecting topics for teaching demonstrations or setting study schedules. It gave everyone an equal chance to participate.
In conclusion, Telegram has proven to be a powerful communicative tool that supports collaboration, file sharing, and interaction among learners. It is easy to use, efficient, and provides a structured environment for academic communication. I believe integrating such tools in teaching and learning can create a more connected and engaged community of learners.
